Who We Are
Patrick Marsden
Principal Owner
Patrick grew up in the neighbourhood of Gordon Head in Victoria BC. His drive and passion for sports – basketball in particular – helped to shape his appreciation for hard work. Patrick is always busy envisioning the next adventure either in business or with his family.
Patrick started out in the trades working for a construction and development company and moved into management roles for them and other development companies before officially starting out on his own in 2016. His strong entrepreneurial nature and keen interest in development have been the driving force behind all of the projects under the Marsden Group of businesses.
He is a devoted father and husband, and loves to spend time outdoors or vacationing with his three daughters and wife, Jenna.
Jenna Marsden
Owner & Lead Design
Growing up in Fairfield, Jenna’s appreciation for beautiful beaches, parks and all of the gorgeous character homes throughout Victoria began at a young age. She has fostered a life-long passion for all things design. As a child, her parents were always hard at work renovating, updating and redecorating older character homes. She loved tagging along with them and trying to influence their home finishing decisions.
Jenna spent summers camping at Cowichan Lake and loved riding trials bikes through the logging roads and exploring new trails all over the island. She recently rediscovered her joy for playing soccer and paddle boarding. She is mother to three sweet, energetic, and extremely entertaining daughters, Isla, Vida and Leni, who help to keep her grounded and appreciating all of the beauty in our local community. Her love of design, selecting finishes and staging occasionally drives her family crazy as she is constantly re-styling their family home.
Jenna enjoys the flexibility that her work provides their family and the ability to work with her husband Patrick on the various projects.
Nick Marsden
Owner & Key Admin Support
Nick was born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England and emigrated to Canada in 1950 with his parents. He is a retired math teacher who worked at Camosun College for over 40 years.
Nick’s mathematics background and refined organizational skills have been vital to the company’s growth. His unmatched patience, integrity and knack for efficiency have played a key role in all of the company’s success.
Nick is a proud husband, dedicated father to three and grandfather of seven. He enjoys traveling the world with his wife Marilyn, spending time with his growing family, and has made his extensive volunteering in the community his family legacy.
Marilyn Marsden
Owner
Marilyn was born in Ontario and moved to Victoria in 1976. She originally began in the teaching profession but soon after her passion for books led her to a long career working in the Library at University of Victoria.
Marilyn enjoys spending time in her garden, cooking healthy and delicious meals for her family, and caring for her extended family. She spends much of her spare time volunteering in various community driven projects. Her love of nature and the outdoors keeps her busy exploring all of the gorgeous local trails and parks.
Her first rental property was affectionately known as “The Boring House” by her children. She and Nick would spend countless hours at the property, updating an old character home in Fernwood. It likely planted the seed for the eventual beginning of the Marsden Group of businesses, which would begin decades later.
Michelle Owen
Owner
Michelle grew up in Campbell River, BC, and made the move to Victoria to attend University. She and her husband Jordan have two children, Asher and Harlow, and a dog named Frankie whom she describes as the light of their lives. She enjoys her active west coast lifestyle of hiking, trips to the beach with her family, playing volleyball, and hanging out at their family lakeside cabin. Michelle is an amazing cook and likes to unwind by watching (admittedly) trashy reality TV shows.
Michelle has been in the construction industry since 2010, working with two architectural firms as an Architectural Technologist. Her and her husband have renovated several properties together, managed various rental properties and are now taking on some larger development projects with Marsden Group.
Jordan Owen
Owner
Jordan was born and raised in Victoria BC. He enjoys playing hockey and spending time hiking with his two young children and wife, Michelle. Jordan is probably happiest out in their boat cruising Shawnigan Lake either wake surfing or water skiing. He loves spending weekends out in the bush with friends and his family on their ‘side by side’.
Jordan has been involved in construction and development since graduating from high school. He started out working for an excavation and construction company, before beginning his refrigeration apprenticeship. Not long afterwards he started his own heating and refrigeration business. Having built his first home at the age of twenty, he has been renovating, building, and developing ever since.
Friends since their teens, it was always a long-term goal of Jordan and Patrick to bring their families together and join forces. They look forward to growing this partnership for years to come.
Michael Chenier
Construction Manager – Marsden Construction Management Ltd.
Michael is originally from Ontario but relocated to Vancouver Island in 1998 to pursue a career in the Forest Industry. In 2001 while the forest industry was in a downturn, he decided to change gears and became a licensed realtor and property manager in the Comox Valley. Ten years later, Michael relocated to Victoria to pursue his interest in new home construction, where he would gain valuable experience working as a framer and managing various aspects of the home building process before joining newly incorporated Marsden Construction Management in 2016. To date, he has been involved in the construction of dozens of spec and custom homes, as well as multi-family projects throughout the Greater Victoria area.
Michael is a devoted family man, with a daughter who lives in Ontario, and a son who is currently attending University in Victoria. He recently married his better half, Jennifer, in 2020. Michael is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys wood-working, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Michael is a valuable asset to Marsden Construction Management Ltd. and the Marsden Group of businesses. In his role as lead Construction Manager, he is responsible for everything from the budgeting of projects during the planning stage, to job site coordination for ongoing projects. He takes great pride in the post construction follow-up and care that goes along with ensuring every buyer and tenant are in good hands.
